Senate President Juan Miguel Zubiri expressed full support for the Congress to investigate the persistent brownouts in Panay Island, Guimaras, and certain parts of Negros Occidental. Zubiri emphasized that they cannot allow the negligence and lack of action to address the power crisis to go unchecked.
According to Zubiri, if it is necessary for the Senate to investigate the power outage in Panay Island, they will do so to find comprehensive solutions to the root causes of the issue. He also urged the Department of Energy (DOE) and the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) to expedite the resolution of the power crisis in Western Visayas before it escalates into a more significant community disruption.
Zubiri called on the DOE and NGCP to determine the cause of the power outage promptly and ensure the swift restoration of electricity to every household and establishment in Panay Island, Negros Island, and Guimaras. The Senate leadership is committed to addressing the power crisis and ensuring the energy stability in the affected regions.
