The Philippine National Police (PNP) is set for the upcoming Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) on October 30, with all systems ago. According to PNP Chief Police General Benjamin Acorda Jr., this readiness is based on reports from various Police Regional Directors following the coordination efforts of Regional and Provincial Joint Security Control Centers in preparation for the elections.
Acorda stated that, as of now, they have not identified any areas where the elections might be postponed, following the assessment of 2,594 areas of concern. Additionally, there are areas that require additional police forces. Currently, 246 areas are classified as “areas of grave concern,” falling under the red category, with the majority located in Bicol, Eastern Visayas, and BARMM.
Furthermore, 1,248 barangays are under the orange category, while 1,100 are classified under the yellow category. The PNP remains vigilant and prepared to ensure the smooth conduct of the elections in these areas.
