Binangonan, Rizal – A devastating capsizing incident involving a motor banca in Binangonan, Rizal, has left 26 people dead and several others affected. After an intense underwater search and rescue/retrieval operation lasting over seven hours, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), in conjunction with the Philippine National Police (PNP) and the Philippine Red Cross (PRC), concluded their efforts to locate and save possible additional victims.
According to the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) of Binangonan, Rizal, as of 2:10 PM today, 40 individuals have been confirmed as survivors of the tragedy. However, there are six casualties whose identities remain uncertain, pending further investigation and confirmation.
The harrowing incident occurred when a motor banca capsized, resulting in a significant loss of lives. The search and rescue teams worked tirelessly to locate and retrieve victims trapped in the sunken boat.
Addressing the media, a representative from the PCG stated, “We have completed the underwater search and rescue/retrieval operation. While the tragic loss of lives saddens us deeply, we can confirm that there are no missing or unaccounted individuals in connection with this incident.”
