Ahead of the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) set for October 30, 2023, the 3rd Infantry (Spearhead) Division has strategically and substantially deployed 11,148 personnel across Western and Central Visayas. This robust military presence is aimed at ensuring a secure and orderly electoral process.
Troops from various units, including the 301st, 302nd, and 303rd Infantry Brigades, have been mobilized under the direction of the 3rd ID headquarters. Of the deployed forces, 6,741 military personnel have been assigned to Region 6, and 4,407 to the Central Visayas Region, supported by 112 military vehicles to facilitate their movements.
The Civilian Armed Forces Geographical Unit (CAFGU) Active Auxiliary (CAA) has also been activated, contributing members from the 3rd ID headquarters to bolster overall security efforts. Specific numbers regarding CAA personnel were not disclosed in the released information.
Supplementing ground forces, a Quick Reaction Force (QRF) has been promptly assembled, comprising 66 military officers, 721 enlisted personnel, and 155 CAA members. The QRF, equipped with 60 mobility assets, is strategically positioned across the provinces of Western and Central Visayas. This rapid response unit stands ready to address any unforeseen circumstances that may arise during the electoral process.
