August 5, 2023 – The Philippine National Police (PNP) has initiated intensified manhunt operations against an armed group believed to be under the leadership of Congressman Arnolfo “Arnie” Teves Jr. This action follows the declaration by the Anti-Terrorism Council (ATC), designating Teves and his associated armed group as terrorists.
The PNP’s heightened pursuit of the group reflects the significance of the ATC’s decision, which is rooted in credible evidence and documented incidents. The group, now designated as the “Teves Terrorist Group,” is alleged to be responsible for acts of violence in Negros Oriental.
The ATC’s decision to label the group as terrorists is based on the compelling evidence of their involvement in activities that have created an environment of fear and apprehension within the region. The designation underscores the government’s commitment to addressing threats to peace and security.
In addition to Congressman Arnie Teves Jr., the ATC has also identified other individuals as terrorists, including Pryde Henry Teves, Nigel Electona, Hannah Mae Sumero Oray, Marvin Miranda, Rogelio Antipolo, Rommel Pattaguan, Winrich Isturis, John Louie Ganyon, Dahniel Lora, Eulogio Gonyon Jr., Tomasino Aledro, and Joemarie Catubay.
The intensified manhunt operations and the ATC’s decision aim to ensure the safety and well-being of the residents in the region, as well as to address threats to peace and stability posed by the activities of the designated group.
