SEN. HONTIVEROS CRITICIZES CHINA’S NEW 10-DASH LINE MAP AND SOUTH CHINA SEA CLAIMS

Senator Risa Hontiveros has called China “delusional” and “desperate” in response to its recent release of a new 10-dash line map. In China’s 2023 standard map, it lays claim to the entire South China Sea, including the Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) of the Philippines in the West Philippine Sea. Additionally, the map shows parts of Taiwan and the northeastern state of India as part of China.

According to Hontiveros, it is no longer reasonable to consider China’s actions, and it appears that the country is continuously trying to assert territory that does not belong to them. She stated that China’s released map is a desperate move to spread falsehoods and propaganda.

“China is delusional. While it belongs to Tsina [China], it keeps annexing neighboring lands and giving them fancy names. This ‘map’ is Beijing’s desperate attempt to assert its lies and propaganda,” said Hontiveros.

Hontiveros also referred to China as a “master manipulator” due to its ongoing distortion of the truth for its own interests, even at the expense of other nations. She believes that China will continue to disseminate fake news of this kind, and thus, the Philippine government should not cease its efforts to oppose them until China stops its encroachments on their sovereignty.

“We know that China is a master manipulator, willing to bend the truth for her own gain, at the expense of countries like ours. China will continue to spread lies, fancy propaganda, and destructive propaganda materials. We must push back. We must not rest until China stops her absurdity,” she added.
