The vibrant and diverse culture of Iloilo province will take center stage as nine town festivals gear up to compete in the 2024 edition of “Kasadyahan sa mga Kabanwahanan” on January 26, 2024. Hailing from different districts of Iloilo, the competing tribes are set to showcase their unique traditions and heritage in a spectacular display of colors, music, and performance.
The participating towns and their respective festivals are as follows:
- Kaing Festival of Leon
- Kasag Festival of Banate
- Saad Festival of Leganes
- Katagman Festival of Oton
- Tultugan Festival of Maasin
- Banaag Festival of Anilao
- Cry of Jelicuon Festival of New Lucena
- Hinirugyaw Sugidanon of Calinog
- Pantat Festival of Zarraga
Under the co-management of the Iloilo Provincial Government and the Iloilo Festivals Foundation, Inc. (IFFI), the 2024 Kasadyahan sa Kabanwahanan Festival promises a grand celebration of Iloilo’s rich cultural tapestry. The tribe contenders will present a diverse range of performances, including food-based, industry-based, religious, and historical showcases, adding depth and variety to the festivities.
“We are looking forward to a grand ‘Kasadyahan sa mga Kabanwahanan’ festivity,” expressed Iloilo Provincial Tourism Officer Bombette Marin. “We also make sure nga and ‘Fun Foodie Friendly Iloilo’ nga tagline set by no less than our Governor Arthur Defensor Jr. will be executed as well as aton mga performances.”
The program for Kasadyahan will kick off at 1:30 p.m. at the Iloilo Freedom Grandstand, featuring special performances from three drum and bugle corps interwoven with the tribes’ presentations. The official introduction of the nine participating tribes is scheduled to take place during the kick-off program for the Kasadyahan Festival on Wednesday, Dec. 13 at SM City Iloilo, offering spectators a sneak peek at their captivating performances. A press conference, attended by the governor and municipal mayors of participating towns, will follow, further adding to the excitement and anticipation surrounding the event.
Moreover, the vibrant and colorful costumes of the participating festivals will take center stage in the Kasadyahan Festival exhibit, providing a visual feast for attendees and highlighting the intricate artistry and craftsmanship behind each festival’s attire.
