Panay, Capiz – A serene day at Pawa Beach in Barangay Pawa, Panay, Capiz, turned into a scene of profound tragedy as a 14-year-old minor lost their life in a drowning accident. The incident, which has sent shockwaves through the local community, sheds light on the critical importance of water safety.
According to preliminary investigations conducted by the Panay Municipal Police Station, the young victim, a resident of Barangay Agbalo, was enjoying a day at the beach with friends. As they ventured into the waters for a leisurely swim, the unimaginable unfolded. Amidst the laughter and camaraderie, the victim was suddenly missing.
A frantic search by the victim’s companions ensued, lasting approximately 20 minutes. As their desperate efforts continued, they discovered the victim’s lifeless body gently floating in the water. The idyllic beachscape transformed into a somber backdrop for an unexpected and devastating event.
Swift to respond, the Panay Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office administered immediate first aid and swiftly transported the victim to the nearest medical facility. Despite their valiant attempts, the medical team could not resuscitate the young soul, and the victim was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital.
