President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. officially inaugurated the much-awaited 18th National Scout Jamboree at the Pintados de Passi Camp in Passi City, Iloilo. This grand event, announced earlier this year through the Boy Scouts of the Philippines’ National Office Memorandum No. 24, series of 2023, will unfold over the course of a week, from December 11 to December 17. The jamboree, a quadrennial celebration, has drawn a massive gathering of approximately 34,000 individuals, including local and international scouts and scoutmasters, as well as national and local officials, and other distinguished guests.
Under the theme “Youth Engagement: Sustaining Relevance and Strengthening Resilience,” the 18th National Scout Jamboree is designed to offer a dynamic, stimulating, and secure platform for scouts to learn, grow, and thrive. The primary objective is to empower them to realize their full potential in various aspects including social, physical, intellectual, character, emotional, and spiritual dimensions, thus enabling them to actively contribute to the betterment of their communities.
As part of the proceedings, an investiture ceremony was held, with President Marcos Jr. assuming the esteemed position of the Chief Boy Scout of the Philippines. This significant appointment highlights his commitment to the youth and the development of future leaders within the country. The 18th National Scout Jamboree promises to be a landmark event, uniting young minds and fostering a spirit of camaraderie and growth among the participants.
