A joint operation conducted by the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) and Iloilo City Police Station 5 Special Drug Enforcement Team (SDET) resulted in the arrest of a high-value individual (HVI) on the night of July 31, 2023.
The suspect, identified as Jypsy Almores , also known as “JP,” is a 19-year-old male and single resident of Brgy. Bakhaw, Mandurriao, Iloilo City, born on January 1, 2004.
The successful Anti-Illegal Drug buy-bust operation was conducted in Brgy. Bolilao, Mandurriao, Iloilo City. Under the leadership of PCPT Roque Gimeno III, CDEU Team Leader, and the supervision of PLT COL Antonio P Benitez Jr., OIC CDEU, together with PCPT Val A Cambel, OIC of ICPS5 SDET, the team apprehended the suspect.
The operation led to the seizure of a substantial amount of suspected shabu, amounting to 55 grams, with an estimated street value of over Php 374,000. This significant drug haul marks a victory for law enforcement in their continuous efforts to combat illegal drug activities.
Among the items recovered from the buy-bust operation were:
- One (1) heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet containing white crystalline substance suspected to be shabu (buy-bust item).
- Five (5) heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing white crystalline substance suspected to be shabu (possession).
- Buy-bust money amounting to Php 12,000.
- One (1) coin purse.
- One (1) android cellular phone.
- Proceeds money totaling Php 350.00.
The suspect, Jypsy Almores, will be facing charges for violating Republic Act No. 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 (Buy-Bust).
