The budget for the Ungka Flyover project in Iloilo is still insufficient for a complete 4-lane project, according to the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Region 6. The budget allocated for the project is based on a rate of P1,000,000.00 per linear meter.
The project spans a total of 743.30 linear meters, including the approaches to the project. Initially, a budget of P680,000,000.00 was allocated for the project, but only P540.28 million has been released so far. This release was divided into Phase 1 with P106.15 million, Phase 2 with P191.55 million, and Phase 3 with P242.58 million.
According to DPWH Secretary Manouel Bono, an additional P200 million is planned to be allocated to complete the project. However, they are currently working on the Detailed Engineering Design to determine the exact budget needed, which may be adjusted up or down based on their findings.
At this point, the exact final budget for the project is still undetermined. It will depend on the results of the Detailed Engineering Design and ongoing negotiations. The crucial factor is ensuring that the budget adequately covers the project’s requirements and aspects of construction and maintains the project’s quality.
