Iloilo City Lone District Representative, Jamjam Baronda, has filed a resolution calling for an investigation into the recent power blackout that began on January 2 on Panay Island. Due to the absence of a session in the House of Representatives, the Committee on Energy has approved the continuation of the inquiry into the lingering power blackout that occurred in April 2023.
The continuation of the inquiry is scheduled for January 11, 2024, at 9:00 AM, led by the Committee on Energy chaired by Congressman Lord Allan Jay Q. Velasco. In a statement released by Baronda, she expressed that her fellow Ilonggo Congressmen support her resolution.
Baronda anticipates presenting her resolution to the plenary of the House on January 22, 2024, upon the resumption of the session for the First Reading and referral to the committee.
It is worth noting that the power blackout on Panay Island initially occurred in February and April 2023, and now, once again, in January 2024, citing similar reasons for the recurrence.
