Senator Risa Hontiveros calls on her fellow senators to stand firm in the Senate Committee on Women regarding the motion to cite in contempt and arrest Pastor Apollo Quiboloy, leader of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC).
Today, March 12, the fate of Hontiveros’s motion against Quiboloy hangs in the balance as Senator Robin Padilla has until the seventh day to gather eight signatures to reverse the decision and prevent the pastor’s arrest.
According to Hontiveros, while she hopes for unanimous support from the members of the Senate Committee on Women, only four senators have been reported to have signed the objection letter led by Padilla, alongside Senators Cynthia Villar, Imee Marcos, and Bong Go.
Previously, Hontiveros also appealed to her fellow senators to listen to the experiences of the victim-survivors of Quiboloy’s abuses, hoping that by understanding and empathizing with their plight, they would stand up for the rights of those victimized by Quiboloy.
