3rd Infantry Division Philippine Army Spokesperson LTCOL Jay-j Javines has confirmed that two individuals sustained injuries in a recent clash between the Philippine Army and the New People’s Army at Sitio Agdalusan, Barangay Jayubo, Lambunao, Iloilo. The confrontation began at 6:10 this morning.
Government troops engaged with no fewer than ten armed members of the Baloy Platoon Central Front, resulting in the recovery of two M16 rifles and several NPA belongings.
According to reports, members of the 82nd Infantry Brigade were conducting a focus group in the vicinity when they unexpectedly encountered the armed group, leading to a prolonged exchange of gunfire lasting at least three hours.
As of now, there is no confirmed count of casualties on the side of the NPA, but the Philippine Army continues its hot pursuit and clearing operation.
In the latest information, one fatality was airlifted from WVSU Lambunao Campus to the Iloilo Sports Complex, while one injured individual was transported to the Western Visayas Medical Center.
