To address the increasing incidents of altercations involving bouncers, security personnel, and customers in bars and establishments, Mayor Jerry P. Treñas of Iloilo City has taken action by issuing an Executive Order. The order restricts the sale of alcoholic drinks within the city to end at 12 midnight, with the aim of curbing such incidents and promoting a safer environment.
Previously, the city had passed an ordinance mandating training for all security personnel and bouncers, but the implementation progress has been slow. In response, the Mayor believes that self-regulation within the establishments is necessary.
Mayor Treñas expressed his serious concern for the safety and well-being of the city’s citizens and emphasized the importance of addressing these alarming incidents. By revising the timing of alcohol sales and initiating discussions with bar owners and representatives, the goal is to create a more responsible and secure nightlife environment.
To engage with stakeholders and ensure compliance with the ordinance, a meeting with bar owners and representatives has been scheduled for Monday. The meeting seeks to establish an open dialogue and find collective solutions to promote adherence to safety protocols.
The revised Executive Order and the intention to hold discussions with bar establishments showcase the Mayor’s proactive approach in addressing social and safety concerns. The ultimate objective is to encourage accountability among all parties involved and collaboratively foster a safer and more enjoyable nightlife experience for the residents of Iloilo City.
Mayor Jerry P. Treñas remains dedicated to the city’s progress and the welfare of its citizens. Through this proactive initiative, he aims to create a harmonious and secure environment for all residents and visitors.
