Dr. Gabriel Salistre Jr. has taken the helm as the new President of Iloilo Science and Technology University (ISAT U), a significant appointment that heralds a new era of leadership and academic advancement.
Hailing from Barangay Baye, Mambusao, Capiz, Dr. Salistre’s journey to presidency is marked by his distinguished career as a Professional Electrical Engineer. He embarks on this pivotal role with a strong commitment to uphold and propel ISAT U’s reputation for excellence.
His official term commenced on August 5, 2023, succeeding the accomplished leadership of Dr. Raul Muyong, who has been appointed as Director IV of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED).
Dr. Salistre’s journey in academia has been a remarkable one. Having earned his Electrical Engineering degree from Central Philippine University (CPU), he further honed his expertise by obtaining a Master of Engineering degree from the same institution. Dr. Salistre’s pedagogical path began at the CPU College of Engineering before joining the ISAT U family in 1999.
Throughout his tenure at ISAT U, Dr. Salistre has held pivotal positions, serving as the Department Head of the Electrical Engineering Department and subsequently assuming the deanship of the College of Engineering for a commendable eight-year term. His dedication led him to key administrative roles, including Director of Planning Development and Auxiliary Services, as well as Vice President for Administration and Finance, contributing to the university’s growth and strategic development.
Dr. Salistre acknowledges the positive legacy left by Dr. Raul Muyong’s leadership, emphasizing the institution’s impressive track record of producing top-performing graduates under his guidance.
