A man jumped off a modernized motor banca into the Iloilo Strait today, prompting a search by the Philippine Coast Guard.
The incident occurred during the afternoon on the “Shady Slehz-2” motor banca’s route from Parola Wharf to Buenavista Wharf. The man, whose identity is unknown, was seated at the back of the boat before the incident.
The Coast Guard promptly launched a search operation using maritime units and aerial surveillance to cover a wider area.
Preliminary findings suggest the man jumped off the motor banca as it reached the midpoint of the Iloilo Strait. The reasons for the jump are under investigation
