The Iloilo Coast Guard is set to resume its search and rescue operation tomorrow morning for a man who reportedly jumped from a modernized boat traveling from Iloilo City to Buenavista, Guimaras yesterday afternoon.
According to Iloilo Coast Guard Commander Paterno Belarmino, the modernized boat was directed back to Parola Wharf, where passengers were disembarked and transferred to another vessel. In an effort to verify passenger details, a new manifesto was prepared and compared with the initial one. Surprisingly, the name “Rolando del Vente” was missing from the updated list.
Commander Belarmino stated that they are still in the process of validating whether the man who jumped is indeed Rolando del Vente. The Coast Guard has also been seeking explanations from captains and owners of other modernized boats due to incomplete passenger information in the manifestos.
One of the boats, named “Shady Slehz 2,” was cited by Belarmino, as it had passengers with incomplete details listed in the manifesto.
The temporary suspension of the search and rescue operation is in effect, and the Coast Guard plans to resume efforts early tomorrow morning. The search will continue to focus on locating the man who jumped from the boat as further investigations unfold.
