The motorcycle was severely damaged, and its rider was injured after it was reported to have veered into another lane and collided with a wing van in Barangay Gua-an, Leganes, Iloilo, at around 4:30 in the morning of September 5, 2023. The driver of the motorcycle was identified as 25-year-old Chester Janrick Savedra, a resident of Barangay Bagacay, Pototan, Iloilo. The driver of the wing van was identified as Mike Jay Entorum from Cotabato City.
According to PMSg. Emmanuel Maude, an investigator from the Leganes Municipal Police Station, the motorcycle was reportedly heading from the city towards Dumangas but ended up on the wrong lane, colliding with the oncoming wing van.
Entorum, the wing van driver, stated that he noticed the motorcycle about 50 meters away in his lane but was unable to avoid it due to the motorcycle’s high speed. As a result, his van collided with the motorcycle.
The wing van originated from Dumangas Port and was transporting fruits to the Iloilo Terminal Market. On the other hand, the victim had come from a bar in the city and was on his way home to Alta Tierra Village. It is believed that he was under the influence of alcohol.
The victim is currently in Metro Iloilo City Medical Hospital for treatment, while the police have taken custody of the wing van driver for further investigation.
