Iloilo City, Philippines – The Public Safety and Transportation Management Office (PSTMO) is fully prepared for the opening of the Ungka Flyover to light vehicles.
According to PSTMO Head, Mr. Jeck Conlu, managing traffic will become more manageable as vehicle flow becomes more streamlined with the flyover in operation. Conlu emphasized that their focus is on ensuring that only light vehicles will be allowed to pass through the flyover.
Conlu estimates that nearly 80% of the vehicles passing through the Ungka Flyover are light vehicles. Additionally, PSTMO will issue early warnings to inform drivers of trucks that they are prohibited from using the flyover.
A coordination meeting is scheduled to take place between the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), officials from the town of Pavia, and the city of Iloilo to finalize the necessary measures for opening the inner lane of the flyover to light vehicles.
Conlu anticipates that the opening of the flyover to motorists and passengers in the area will bring significant convenience. It is hoped that the inner lane of the flyover will be opened later this week.
