ILOILO CITY-A buybust operation conducted by the police in Barangay Concepcion, Iloilo City, today led to the apprehension of Glen ‘Bongbong’ Yturiaga, a reported financial supporter of a prominent local politician. This development, sourced from a credible insider within the RMN News Team, marks a significant turn in the ongoing battle against illegal drug activities.
The identity of the politician allegedly backed by Yturiaga remains undisclosed at this time. Before succumbing to authorities in the operation, Yturiaga engaged in a fierce confrontation with the police. He fired shots and exchanged gunfire with law enforcement, resulting in injuries to one SWAT member, identified as Police Staff Sergeant Michael Malan, 42 years old.
Yturiaga, with a history of imprisonment for drug-related charges in 2018, was found in possession of illegal drugs valued at approximately P7.8 million during the operation. Accompanying him in custody are Ivan Palmejar, 35 years old, and Katrina Espinosa, 42 years old, identified as Yturiaga’s live-in partner.
The operation has raised questions about Yturiaga’s possible connections with local politics, given that he was the primary target. The unfolding investigation is expected to reveal the extent of Yturiaga’s involvement and any potential ties to political figures in Iloilo City.
