The newly appointed Commander of the Philippine Coast Guard in Iloilo, Commander Jan Terazona, expressed his delight as Iloilo City and Province reported zero maritime casualties during the recently concluded Holy Week.
According to Terazona, they recorded only two incidents throughout the entire week. The first incident involved a motorboat in Ajuy that experienced engine trouble, but fortunately, no one was harmed as immediate rescue operations were conducted.
The second incident occurred when a two-year-old girl fell from the seawall in Banate. However, she was promptly rescued without sustaining any injuries.
Terazona further commented that the travel of residents to and from the province and city of Iloilo, as well as to the island of Guimaras for tourism purposes, proceeded smoothly during the Holy Week.
Terazona expressed his gratitude to the residents for their cooperation with the Philippine Coast Guard in Iloilo, which he deemed as a significant factor in ensuring a peaceful observation of the Holy Week.
The successful navigation of the maritime activities during the Holy Week reflects the effective coordination and efforts of the Philippine Coast Guard in ensuring the safety and security of maritime travelers in Iloilo City and Province.
