A drug supplier operating in Capiz was apprehended in a drug buy-bust operation conducted by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Group (PDEG) in Alta Tierra, Jaro, Iloilo City on Tuesday afternoon, September 26, 2023. The operation resulted in the seizure of illegal drugs with an estimated value of over P700,000.
The suspect has been identified as Marvin Farenas, a 41-year-old resident of Dumalag, Capiz, and he is considered a high-value individual (HVI) in the drug trade. Farenas was found in possession of approximately 10 grams of illegal drugs, valued at P48,000.
The total amount of shabu (methamphetamine) recovered from the suspect is estimated to be 110 grams, with a standard drug price of P740,000.
Farenas claimed that he had been previously arrested in 2015 on drug-related charges but was acquitted in 2022. He strongly denied involvement in the illegal drug trade.
However, according to one of the operatives involved in the operation, they had been monitoring Farenas for some time, as he was believed to be operating in both Iloilo and Capiz. He was reportedly procuring large quantities of drugs in Iloilo City and distributing them to his customers in Capiz.
Farenas is currently undergoing a drug test and is in the custody of the Jaro Philippine National Police (PNP).
