ILOILO CITY- One regular employee and five casual employees of the City Government, working under the City Engineer’s Office, have been implicated in the theft of active main copper wires belonging to PLDT, a leading telecommunications provider. The incident has prompted swift action from the City Government, with Mayor Jerry P. Treñas issuing a statement on behalf of the city.
The mayor expressed deep concern over the involvement of City Government employees in criminal activities and has given the accused individuals a clear ultimatum. They are presented with the option to resign from their positions immediately or face both criminal and administrative charges.
Mayor Jerry P. Treñas also offered a sincere apology on behalf of the City Government to PLDT and the community affected by this incident. He emphasized that the City Government is committed to maintaining high standards of integrity and ethics among its employees and will not tolerate such misconduct.Furthermore, the mayor sought to reassure the public that the actions of these employees should be viewed as exceptions rather than representative of the entire City Government workforce.
