A tragic incident unfolded late Friday evening, August 4, 2023, in Barangay Sooc, Arevalo, Iloilo City, where a man identified as Federico “alias Bikil” Sanchez lost his life following a violent clash.
Sanchez, a resident of Barangay Quezon in Arevalo, Iloilo City, was pronounced dead on arrival at Qualimed Hospital. He sustained multiple injuries, including gunshot wounds, as a result of the altercation.
The alleged perpetrator, Albert Caro, a fellow resident of Barangay Quezon, Arevalo, Iloilo City, has been identified and apprehended by local authorities.
The incident occurred shortly after 8:00 PM within the same barangay. Preliminary investigations led by PCPT Mavin Laraño, the head of Arevalo PNP, suggest that the motive behind the crime may be linked to a longstanding personal feud.
While the exact circumstances and depth of the conflict between the suspect and the victim are yet to be fully determined, it was reported that the victim, Sanchez, was on his way to the residence of his relative, Jonas Zulueta, when he was confronted and subsequently attacked by Caro.
Arevalo PNP has taken custody of the suspect and is preparing to file Homicide charges.
