A group aiming to check into a lodging house from Smallville, Mandurriao found themselves at the Molo Police Station in the early hours of October 16, 2023, following a complaint from their taxi driver, Diciam Drilon.
According to Drilon, two women and four men comprised the passengers he was transporting. Upon reaching the entrance of the lodge, one of the female passengers vomited, and the air conditioning caused an unpleasant odor inside the vehicle.
At this point, Drilon decided to charge an additional P300, apart from the regular fare of around P200, to cover the cost of car wash and inconvenience during the journey.
Discontented with the extra charge, the group and Drilon engaged in a heated exchange. One of the male passengers insisted on seeking assistance from the security guard to call the police.
Upon the arrival of Molo PNP, an agreement was reached, and the group paid Drilon P500 to settle the dispute. The incident sheds light on the challenges faced by taxi drivers in handling such situations and the need for clear communication between passengers and drivers to avoid misunderstandings.
