In preparation for the upcoming Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) scheduled for October 30, the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) has assured the continuous supply of electricity to distribution utilities. However, the corporation acknowledges that it cannot guarantee the absence of power outages from their facilities to end-users on Election Day.
The NGCP has designated October 30 for the BSKE, recognizing the critical need for a stable power supply during this nationwide event. During a recent Power 101 briefing with members of the Iloilo media, NGCP officials disclosed that their alert status would be in effect starting October 28.
Despite meticulous planning and coordination with the Commission on Elections (COMELEC), the Philippine National Police (PNP), and other relevant agencies over the past month, the NGCP emphasized that unforeseen challenges may still arise. They highlighted the complexity of the power distribution system, acknowledging that occasional troubles and glitches are inevitable.
